My women patients these days are so burned out they barely have the energy and finances to care for themselves and their children, if they have them. Why would they want to bring in an unknown and potentially abusive relationship into their lives? Also in light of the overturn of Roe, they have to maintain a nearly impossible level of vigilance now. I really feel bad for the teens and twenty somethings. The men are scared too. They are terrified of getting in a bad situation and stuck with child support for a child they didn’t feel ready for. It’s not a sunshine and unicorns timeline and I fully support my patients for opting out of the romance game now.
